In yesterday’s post I showed you how one of the most famous and followed fantasy sports columnists was willfully misleading his readers with regards to player ranks. Today, I’m going to go one step further and show you how the largest sports outfits in the galaxy are willfully misleading followers with respect to player ranks. Again, the goal here is to alert you to these mistakes so you can avoid them and at the same time capitalize on those who don’t.

Have you ever asked yourself ‘What good is a player ranking system that’s based solely on what a player has done to date, as opposed to what he’s expected to do?’. For some unknown reason, the fantasy sports community continues to undervalue top tier players. In my best estimation, it is because ‘experts’ rely on a hard ranking system that doesn’t accentuate the magnitude of differences in player abilities. By acknowledging this, preparing for it and using it to our advantage, we gain a huge advantage over the competition. Moreover, analysis like this goes a long way towards informing you of how much you should be willing to pay for the players you get.
